SARAH TURNER AWARD 2019
Sarah Turner was a Livingstone Netball Club player when she tragically lost her life. Every year the Livingstone Netball Club awards the “Sarah Turner Award” in her honor to a member of the Livingstone Community who has shown outstanding service to our club.
In 2019 the Sarah Turner Award was awarded to Liesel Houghton.
Liesel has been a player at Livingstone Netball Club for a total of 39 seasons spanning 22 years. She has served on the committee of our club for a total of 6 years with the last 3 years being in the role of President. At the end of the 2019 season she handed over her role due to an interstate move.
During her time as President she successfully managed to implement a better grading system for our players and an improved procedural structure.
She was instrumental in implementing Thank You Day, an initiative the club ran on a Saturday at the courts to offer our thanks to the many volunteers within the Whitehorse Netball Association including umpires, officials and coaches of all clubs.
In addition to that Liesel created a family and community based inclusive culture that will exist for many years to come.
